Shiney is preparing to tell truth to his daughter :

Shiney Ahuja, who is out on bail after being convicted for seven years on March 30 on the charge of raping his maid, is in the process of rehabilitating himself: “I’m visiting temples and preparing to tell the truth to my daughter Arshiya who is three-and-a-half-year-old. I want her to know that her father was cased, that he is innocent and loves her a lot. Before anyone asks her, I’m going to tell her exactly what happened so she can walk with her head held high and proudly say that she’s Shiney Ahuja’s daughter.”

Shiney reveals that there have been times when he had thought of leaving the country and settling abroad. He’d toyed with the idea of becoming a cabbie and starting clean bright life once all this was behind him.



“But Anupam and I have decided against taking such a step for Arshiya’s sake. I don’t want to teach her to run away from life, but to face it. In the last two years, both Anupam and I have learnt from every experience that God has put us through.”

Shiney spent three-and-a-half months in jail in 2009 after his arrest and then a little over a month in 2011. “The first time, I was in so much pain that I wanted to end my life. But that would have been selfish; I had to think about my family. My parents, Anupam and Arshiya have given me the courage to live through this ordeal,” he says.



He says that for the first six weeks, he was angry and asking himself, “Why did this have to happen to me?” But he admits that he never judged or cursed anyone: “I don’t want those who put me through this to suffer the same pain. I asked questions and searched for answers and understood that I needed to be in jail to wash away my bad ‘karma’. I pray that this pain washes away any wrong I might have inadvertently done.”

He appeals to his colleagues to keep an open mind and not be persuaded by false news. “I have paid the price of being a celeb,” he sighs. He is obliged to the directors like Anurag Basu, Sudhir Mishra, Jahnu Barua and Kunal Shivdasani, producers Titu and Mahesh Bhatt and co-stars like Chitrangada Singh and Priety Zinta for their support. “Pritish Nandy even visited me in jail, to see someone from the industry was such a relief. And Kangna (Ranaut) said on Koffee With Karan that she’d continue to work with me because she doesn’t believe I’m guilty.”

Bombay High Court granted bail to Shiney :

Bollywood actor Shiney Ahuja has been granted bail by the Bombay High Court. The tainted actor was sentenced rigorous imprisonment to seven years after he was found guilty of raping his maid servant by a lower court.
On 19th April 2011, Shiney was moved to Bombay High Court against his conviction order.



On June 14 2009, Shiney was accused of raping his domestic maid at his Andheri West residence. He was arrested and spent 110 days in police and judicial custody in various jails before the Bombay High Court granted him bail on surety of Rs.50,000.

Shiney has filed a bail application :

Shiney Ahuja today (April 19) moved to the Bombay High Court challenging his conviction for the rape of his maid in June 2009.

"Justice A.R. Joshi admitted the appeal challenging Shiney's conviction by a sessions court, which sentenced him to seven years rigorous imprisonment," Shiney's lawyer Shrikant Shivade said.


Shivade also said that they have filed a bail application for pending hearing of the appeal. "It is likely to come up for hearing on April 27," he said.



A Mumbai sessions court March 30 sentenced Shiney to seven years in jail after finding him guilty of raping his maid.

Shiney was arrested on June 15, 2009 after medical tests on the maid confirmed sexual assault. The Bombay High Court had approved him bail in October 2009.

Over a year after accusing Shiney of raping her, in September 2010, the maid, though the medical examination had confirmed rape told the court that the rape never took place.

Shiney Ahuja Jailed for 7 years in rape case:

The court in Mumbai has convicted the Bollywood actor Shiney Ahuja for raping his maid. The court has sentenced him to a minimum of seven years rigorous imprisonment.

The actor and his wife, Anupam Ahuja burst into tears in the court while the verdict was being read out. Shiney was taken to the jail directly from the court.

The trail of the case was held in camera and the the media was not allowed in the court.

Also, the court has not taken into consideration the maid's evidence as the judge felt that she had given false evidence.



Things took a U-turn in September, 2010 when the maid back off from her accusations and said that the rape had never occurred. Also, she said that the complaint against Shiney was filed at the request of the woman who had secured her job of a maid in the actor’s residence.

Earlier, in June 2009, the 20-year old maid had lodged a police complaint alleging that she was raped by Shiney at his residence. The actor was arrested on June 14 and unconfined on bail three months later.

In the meantime, the Additional Commissioner of Police, Amitabh Gupta , who investigated the case, said that they had collected persuasive evidence to prove that the actor had committed the crime though the victim had turned hostile. He said that they were happy that the accused in the case was convicted.

Another police officer said that they had gathered the DNA and medical reports, which confirmed the rape by the actor. The police also recorded the statements of 12 witnesses and gathered other documentary proof.

The victim in her complaint to police had said that she and the actor were alone in the house when Shiney raped her. The maid had alleged that Shiney had confined her to his bedroom for hours before allowing her to go.

The girl had said “Once I was allowed to go, I told my aunt about the incident who then took me to the Oshiwara police station to lodge the complaint.”
